Breastfeeding is best for mom and baby but sometimes situations arise
in which mom desires assistance from a lactation professional. This
need may range from the need for reassurance her baby is receiving
enough milk to more in-depth counseling to correct a poor latch or
manage baby's weight gain.
Gina Hagan, owner of Supermommy's Superstore is also a Certified
Lactation Counselor (CLC) and can assist families with prenatal
breastfeeding education and works one-on-one with mothers with latch
difficulties, managing milk production, back to work strategies and
more.
Services include:
Latch checks are minimal observation of mom and baby feeding. If concerns are noted, a full evaluation will be recommended.
A full evaluation consists of a complete history for mom and baby, an
anatomical breast assessment (in regards to lactation), and weight
gain assessment of the baby. During the appointment, the baby's
ability to transfer an adequate amount of milk will be evaluated. Gina
will discuss with mom how to help her baby achieve optimal milk
transfer without experiencing pain. All of mom's breastfeeding
concerns are addressed and a personalized plan of care is created
specifically for her and her baby's needs.
Depending on the nature of the challenge mom and baby are
experiencing, follow up care may be recommended to ensure the best
possible outcome.
Latch checks and lactation counseling are available by appointment only. Most clients can be seen same day. In-home visits available for an additional charge. |
